The primary purpose of a bandoleer is to provide extra lead quickly and in a relatively inexpensive or disposable fashion. This bandoleer in particular was designed during the Vietnam war to carry 6 x 5rnd 7.62mm stripper clips (12 clips if you double up). Made from thin cotton material these may not last forever but are extremely lightweight. It comes with a simple over the shoulder sling which troops would often use a single safety pin to adjust the length to fit better (pin not included).
