Description
As the number in the name implies, the 37' pattern webbing system came about in 1937 shortly before the start of World War 2. These pouches come from Australian Army stores but many will have British origin. The commonwealth had the advantage of using the same universal weapon systems, so these pouches saw combat in all theatres including post war conflicts.
These pouches were designed to affix to shoulder straps with the top buckle and a strap on the small of the back which comes through the rear loop. Being a universal pouch your gunner could fit 3 Bren magazines, a rifleman up to 3x 32rd cartons, 2x 48rd carton, or 2x 50 bandoliers, hand grenades or even 2 x 2 inch mortar rounds. The top of the pouch is secured by a basic press stud for quick access. Made from very heavy canvas these are nearly indestructible and still in fantastic condition. A great piece for any Commonwealth WW2/postwar impressions or as a rugged utility pouch for hunters.
