The Austrian Army have come up with these amazing day packs, filled with features! Made of durable nylon and with an internal rubberized lining, these will take all the knocks the military can give it and keep its contents dry. The rubberised lining can be perishing & peeling after years in storage, it be a bit sticky in there. With plenty of room to adapt for different missions, look no further for a day pack.
First off the pack has one large main compartment with 2 slim pouches in the back. Useful for your daily carry around town you can keep your spare clothing, stationary and books all separate and organized. This main compartment has a draw cord closure (which can help compress its contents down) as well as an extra sack sewn in around the opening. This sack can be sunken down into the main compartment and used as a divider for wet clothes or expanded upwards above the opening to increase the packs capacity. Speaking of adapting for the mission - the lid of the pack is fully removable. The main pack can be used stand alone with its draw cord closure at the top for when your require quick access. Externally the pack is lined with cotton canvas strips compatible with ALICE clips if you want to add more pouches. Complete with reinforced canvas carry handles, padded adjustable shoulder straps and waist belt. These are a well thought out pack, perfect for anything from day hikes or daily carry.

I can't believe these packs were ever used by any army, let alone the Austrian army. If they were made for the army, they would not have been in their supply stores for very long or issued. These packs are a terrible design and poorly constructed. Where to begin? The removable lid of the pack...why? It cannot be carried practically or easily on its own and why would one want/need to? The inside lining is wafer thin easily torn nylon with very poor stitching throughout. Rough seam work and finishing, carry handle not attached to any reinforcing, cotton webbing strapping that lints and pills immediately on contact with anything, a removable foam pad that is next to useless and a waste of space, a load bearing harness that again is not sewn/anchored into any reinforcing or strong component whatsoever, unbelievably the top of the shoulder straps are sewn into just the thin nylon pack lining! As soon as you sling this, fully laden on your back, the straps will fail! The pack needs to be fully crammed in order for the lid to be cinched down tight. There is no adjustment on the lid beyond that, so if it is not filled to capacity, you cannot close and seal the pack adequately. Velcro strips behind the webbing molle straps? Why? Cheap school backpack/laptop bag plastic spring clips on the lower part of the shoulder straps. Can’t be the feel of Austrian surplus ! Amazing materials and the amount of stuff you can fit in this pack is insane. Recently did a week long international trip and easily fitted enough gear in. Perfect size for carry on
