Description

These packs were issued during the Croatian War of Independence, aiding them in the victory against the Yugoslav People's Army. The backpack of the winners. These combat packs make an easy transition to daily civilian life, benefiting from their small size, practicality and popular woodland camo. That is, after you clean them up! ''Musty'' would be an appropriate descriptor. Nevertheless, winner backpack!

Constructed from cotton canvas with a main compartment, front pocket and two side pouches. The pouches have hook & loop closures while the main compartment has a strapped top flap. Each shoulder strap can be unclipped at the bottom, then the two can be clipped together to form a messenger bag style strap. Some of these have nylon or cotton straps (they will be picked at random, see picture 6) and a few came in with leather front straps (see picture 7), selectable in the menu. A versatile companion for the modern life. Take it on day tramps, pack your lunch for work or transport your tech.

    A little disappointed

For an item that was probably purchased in bulk for a couple of dollars each in Europe the price tag of nearly $N.Z 40.00 can't really be justified.

$15 would be a more realistic price.

The material is thinner than I hoped for but overall it is a good little functional day pack with sturdy webbing carry straps and quality buckles.

    Good (very)small ruck

Almost identical to the Yugo JNA ruck, except the Yugo one was OD and resisted all attempts to be freed from its horrible stink.

This one is almost a woodland camo and had only a mild warehouse smell. A wash and a few days air-out solved that.

The material on the bottom is about to wear through in a few spots, so I'll have to patch that, and I don't think the shoulder straps would be very comfortable with much more that 10lbs in it.

    But I'd but it again.

    Handy Bag, not too strappy.

For the past couple of years I've been using a polish army gas mask bag to take my things on my bushwalk/coffee making rambles. I found I could just fit wheat I need for 1.5 people, but it was always a bit of a squeeze. My family has grown so now I usually am taking things for 3-4 people, and this backpack has proved to be the right size for that job. I can take water, fruit, fuel (I take wood up for my little stove) and coffee for my little crew and carry it in comfort, without worrying about a $150 tech backpack getting ripped up or muddy up in our bit of bush.

The straps are wide enough webbing at the shoulders to put off any discomfort at full load for as long as I've carried the pack ( Not more than 2-3 hours yet ). It is noticeably more comfortable than my old generic canvas rucksack ( which are available new on this store ). I like that the shape of the pack is wide but not too tall, it sits in a nice place on my back and doesn't swing around too much.

Aesthetically speaking, mine is slightly duller than the photos shown here, which I don't mind at all, I'm not really a huge fan of camo so the closer it is to drab the better for me. The hardware on mine is in good shape, the usual tarnishing expected from something of this age and usage. The hook and loop on the pockets still holds, and the clips work.

I took one star off just because I feel like I could have got this pack for more like $19.99 a few years back, the jump in price of most of these packs is…
