The sides can be buttoned together, or you can attach it to another poncho, meaning you can make this into a portable rain shelter. You can also tie poncho liners to it too, making it very versatile. Made from rubberized fabric, this is truly a must if there is going to be rain when you're headed camping, hunting or hiking.
Size: 160cm x 220cm
Weight: 0.9kg
Condition: Used /Good - Item is well used (There may be some very minor 'pinholes' that should not effect the overall performance of the poncho). There may be marks/stains/scratches or repairs, but it is still in functioning order. If you want more information on our condition ratings, check out our condition guide
Writing reviews is not my strong point ,but...
I have used this out in the bush walking under a steady down pour it kept me dry, bar the bottom of my legs ended getting a bit wet ,
I did not sweat underneath that much probably due to it being really cold as it was starting to snow on the tops
compared to the miltec poncho that sell for a extra $20 (I own one ) .I'd recommend the genuine issue hands down over the miltec
as its better built and only 200 grams heavier and
folds down nearly as compact.
using a gotcha strap works really well to scrunch it up tight as .
Good size, covers just about everything, ie me and the bike,. .no holes that i can see and all the press studs are good. All in all a great article for all bad weather situations.
A mate picked one up from the Auckland store for me so I couldn't compare it with the other stock, but he said he got the good ones. Every thing was in order although I would describe it as very well used with no holes, but some of the domes are suspect. So I rate it about 3 and a half stars. I will not be taking it hunting as I can't afford for it to fail, I am using it at work to cover my tools and myself in the winter rains and it does the job. I think it's priced fairly and if unissued ones became available I would get one.
I hunt, so need layers for different weather - wind, sun, rain. A mate has $600 super-duper all-in-one jacket but I just don't have the funds, so opted for this parka. It's big, but it's acceptable to slip into a day pack, and whilst it hasn't been used in anger yet, you can tell it'd have to be a flood before you get wet. It covers a small pack and your rifle easily, and it has a great hood. Goes down to mid-calf, so as long as you have warm layers underneath, you should be sweet as out in Mother Nature. A stalking cover-all? No - it'd be a little noisy, but this is designed to keep you dry in serious weather, not for deployment because it's spitting. I like the fact that it's strong enough to make a ground sheet and it has good eyelets, so you can sling some paracord through and make a basha out of it. A versatile and useful bit of kit. Recommended for someone who wants an inexpensive, multi-purpose rain layer.
