Jordan officially adopted their flag in 1928 and it is based on the 1917 flag of the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire. The flag is a basic tricolour using pan-Arab colours joined with a red chevron. The chevron represents the Hashemite dynasty and the Arab Revolt.

The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
