This jacket is made to the specifications of the U.S. Army's third generation Extended Cold Weather Clothing System. It's also known as the GEN III Extended Climate Warfighter Clothing System. The system is designed for climates between -50 and +4 degrees Celsius. This jacket is intended to be the fifth level of protection. The different layers of the system can be worn independently according to the climate.

In terms of construction, the soft shell fabric is water-resistant and breathable. Under arm zips allow for quick and easy ventilation. A hood is incorporated into the collar and can be adjusted with the elasticated drawstring. Each cuff features Velcro strips and elastic bands which helps with weather-proofing and retaining heat. A storm flap fastens over the front zip with Velcro and snap domes. In typical military style there are Velcro patches on the chest and arms for rank and name attachment. Pick up one of these jackets to use as an outer layer on colder days.
